Mount Holly Historical Society

We have resumed our monthly openings of the Shinn-Curtis Cabin, on the second Saturday of each month. Stop by and see the progress of our repairs/renovations, and learn about one of the oldest log structures in the United States. Our next "open house" is November 11.

Keep an eye on this site and our Facebook page for information on our upcoming Mount Holly Ghost Tours.

We have resumed in-person meetings, subject to the latest COVID-19 guidance (social distancing, and masks for the unvaccinated). See our new Facebook page for the latest information. Our monthly meetings - usually on the Fourth Tuesday of each month - include a presentation from a local historian. See our Meetings page for the schedule and location.

Do you display the American and/or New Jersey flag at your home or business? Check the image in the upper right corner of our web site each day to learn whether or not the American flag should be flown at full staff or half staff. You can also check the NJ Flag Status site for daily updates and to subscribe to their Flag Status Notification List.

The purpose of the Society is to foster interest in the history of Mount Holly and to preserve, protect and perpetuate those local resources which are indicative of the history, heritage, and character of this locale through social, cultural, recreational, and educational activities. See our Membership Letter for information on joining the MHHS.

Spend an hour or two walking through 350 years of Mount Holly's history using the Mount Holly Historic Walking Tour (click for page 1 and page 2).

Our former President and de facto photographer, Larry Tigar, has collected thousands of Mount Holly photos onto two discs: fire houses, churches, schools, businesses, homes, etc. They're available for purchase from him or through the MHHS. Click here for samples, and send us an email if you'd like to buy one or both of the discs.
